strawberry banana delight
Yesterday I suddenly told Ali that we should be snacking on fresh fruits instead of our usual blend of chips and soda and some other junk that we feel like eating. He agreed and gladly accompanied me to a nearby grocery store. We love apples so we got some red ones and some granny smiths too. We also bought green mangoes, bananas and oh was I glad that fresh strawberries were also available!
I told him I’m going to make a strawberry banana milkshake. He was quite excited about it. Then I also told him that I haven’t tried making that even once. Ali just smiled while I fumbled upon the would-be ingredients of my soon to be famous milkshake! *lol*
I wanted it to taste very natural so here’s what I’ve decided to whir in my trusty blender:
1 cup strawberries, hulled - slightly frozen;
2 medium-sized bananas, also slightly frozen;
1/4 cup unsweetened yogurt;
1/2 cup milk, but for this recipe I used soy because it’s friendlier to my stomach;
and 6 ice cubes.

Sugar is optional but if you want it to be a wee bit sweet, add a couple or so teaspoons of simple syrup. Put all ingredients in a blender, pulse blend for 3 or 4 times then on medium speed until all of the ice cubes are crushed.
The yogurt and milk make this drink creamier and smoother in texture. If you want it to be thicker, do not add ice, add frozen milk instead. Pour your milkshake in a nice, tall glass, (preferably chilled). Add whole strawberries as garnish.

Oh, Ali came up with the name strawberry banana delight. Guess he was quite delighted to taste this healthy and refreshing drink. :)
